I chose this area of engineering, because I found it most interesting! Biomedical engineering uses techniques from the best of both worlds. Using both engineering and scientific techniques, we can understand the behaviour of certain cells (ones that experience forces). The knowledge we gain from studying these cells will help us to develop devices that could save lives.

I really enjoyed using my mechanical engineering skills in the biomedical area of medical devices during my PhD. I am so glad I got to continue this for my postdoctoral research
